The online portal for recruitment of third batch of N-Power enrolees has witnessed over one million applications barely 48 hours after it opened. The Federal Government had disclosed that 400,000 applicants would be absorbed into the third batch of its N-Power National Social Investment Scheme (NSIP). The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development commenced the enrolment process of the third batch of the N-Power beneficiaries on June 26. US President Donald Trump retweeted a video showing one of his supporters loudly shouting “white power”. The supporter was among a group of people taking part in a pro-Trump rally at a retirement complex in Florida. The footage showed supporters and opponents of the president hurling abuse and swearing at one another. Mr Trump has denied accusations that he is seeking to capitalise on racial tensions. His spokesman says he did not hear the “white power” comment. More than 500,000 people worldwide have now lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Johns Hopkins University in the US. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 490 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday. The 490 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 24567. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 382 patients from isolation centers across the country with eight new deaths reported. The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church International, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, said 114 people have testified to have been healed of coronavirus in his church.
