The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday constituted a national campaign council for the Edo state governorship election billed for 19 September. The ruling party named Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the chairman and two immediate past national chairmen, Adams Oshiomhole and John Oyegun as members. Justice Danlami Senchi of Federal High Court in Jabi, Abuja has dismissed a suit filed against the immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and three others. The suit, filed by Comrade Mustapha Salihu and five others, was the one in respect of which the court granted an interim order on March 4 this year, suspending Oshiomhole from further acting as the APC’s national chairman. A statue of former Ethiopian leader Haile Selassie has been destroyed in a park in Wimbledon, south-west London. Police are investigating the incident, which took place in Cannizaro Park on Tuesday evening. The damage to the bust was carried out by a group of around 100 people, according to an eyewitness. Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday ordered the interim forfeiture of 48 choice properties, allegedly belonging to the former Chairman of Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Funds, NSITF, Dr. Ngozi Olejeme. The affected properties are spread across, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Bayelsa, Enugu, Edo and Delta states. The Senate on Wednesday observed a minute silence to honour the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who died on June 25, 2020 at the age of 70. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced Nigeria’s single highest one-day coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday with 790 cases. The 790 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 26484. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 406 patients from isolation centers across the country with 13 new deaths reported.
