The Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr. Ifedayo Abegunde, has resigned his appointment ahead of the governorship election in the state. Abegunde, popularly known as Abena, tendered his resignation letter on Monday morning. He was however silent on why he opted to quit when Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is undergoing treatment for COVID-19. Mastermind of Saturday’s attack on a United Nations (UN) helicopter near Damasak, Borno State, will pay dearly for it, President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed. The President on Sunday said the government will avenge the attack in which two persons, including a five-year-old, were killed. The attack was attributed to insurgents. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 544 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday. The 603 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 28711. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 203 patients from isolation centers across the country with 11 new deaths reported. The Lagos State Government on Sunday announced the discharge of 45 recovered patients from its isolation centres across the state. In a tweet on its official account, the Lagos State Ministry of Health said: “Today, 45 fully recovered COVID-19 Lagos patients; 18 females and 27 males including four foreign nationals were discharged from our isolation facilities to reunite with the society. “The patients; 19 from Eti-Osa (LandMark), 11 from Onikan and 15 from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged after full recovery and testing negative to COVID-19.
