The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced investigation of two Lebanese: Dina Jihad Khali and Chamseddine Waell Mohmmed, who were arrested by officers of the Customs Area Command, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for attempting to smuggle a total sum of $890,000 USD( Eight Hundred and Ninety Thousand United States Dollars) out of Nigeria, through the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa. Council chairman for Onigbongbo in Lagos, Babatunde Oke, is dead. He died early today from complications arising from COVID-19 complications. According to a post on his Facebook page, Oke died on Wednesday at St. Nicholas Hospital on Lagos Island, where he was moved, when his illness became critical. He was initially receiving treatment at the Gbagada isolation centre. Nigeria announces 423 new coronavirus cases Oke was spending his second term as the council chairman. A United Kingdom-based communication consultant, Dr. Opeyemi Erinfolami, has described the provision on exclusivity in the new National Broadcasting Code as a product of ignorance. The UK economy suffered its biggest slump on record between April and June as coronavirus lockdown measures pushed the country officially into recession. The economy shrank 20.4% compared with the first three months of the year. Household spending plunged as shops were ordered to close, while factory and construction output also fell. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 423 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Tuesday. The 423 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 47,290.
