The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 373 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Thursday. The 373 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 48,116. The Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of four Internet fraudsters, Kunle Omoniyi; Bassey Odo, Paul Adebisi and Temitope Samson, who were arrested in different parts of the state recently. A court in Nigeria has fined three men $52,000 (£40,000) each for hijacking a ship in March and securing a ransom of $200,000 for the release of its crew. These are the first convictions in the West African state since a new anti-piracy law came into force last year.
