One of four men accused of killing a former Lebanese prime minister in Beirut in 2005 has been convicted by a special UN-backed court. Salim Ayyash and the others, all from the Shia militant group Hezbollah, had been on trial in absentia since 2014. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja has convicted and sentenced Abiona Akinyemi Festus to two years imprisonment for internet fraud. The convict who was prosecuted by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a two-count charge of internet fraud was on wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigations of the United States Department of Justice. US banking giant Citibank has asked a federal court to force hedge fund Brigade Capital to return $176m (£134m). The money is part of the $900m the bank accidentally transferred to creditors of the struggling cosmetics company Revlon. The bank says it meant to send Brigade just $1.5m to cover interest on a loan the hedge fund holds. Citigroup blames the accidental over-payment on an “operational mistake”. In a filing to the Southern District of New York Court, Citigroup said it meant to make interest payments on behalf of Revlon but transferred amounts more than 100 times the size intended.…

The opening match of the 2020-21 French top-flight season has been postponed after four positive coronavirus tests at Marseille. Marseille were due to host Saint-Etienne on Friday in the first of eight weekend fixtures in Ligue 1.
