Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state has said he will appeal Monday’s ruling of the state election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja and has consequently instructed his lawyers to file the necessary papers. The Bayelsa Governorship Election Tribunal has nullified the election that produced candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP), Senator Duoye Diri as governor. The three-member panel held the election was unlawful due to the exclusion of Action Democratic Party (ADP) and its candidate, King George from the November 16, 2019 governorship election. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disbursed N338.6 billion COVID-19 related intervention funds to beneficiaries across various sectors. A member, Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, who made this known in a note released by the apex bank, said reports of the implementation of the CBN’s COVID-19 intervention had shown significant progress in disbursements. Over N152.9 billion (or 15.2 per cent) of the N1 trillion targeted support for the manufacturing sector has been disbursed. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 298 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday. The 298 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 49,068. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 207 patients from isolation centers across the country with one new death reported.
