Three final year students of the Department of Mass Communication, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area, have died in an accident after their final examinations. The accident involved a commercial tricycle and a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). To enable Nigeria and 69 other emerging and developing economies to tackle COVID-19 pandemic, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday released economic funding support totalling $99 billion to them. In an emailed report, the IMF said it advanced $29 billion under the Rapid Credit Facility and Rapid Financing instrument to Nigeria and other beneficiary countries. Nigeria got $3.4 billion of the $29 billion to enable it strengthen balance of payment and local currency. Early data from US company Moderna shows that a new vaccine that protects against Covid-19 is nearly 95% effective. The results come hot on the heels of similar results from Pfizer, and add to growing confidence that vaccines can help end the pandemic.
