The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, will continue his duty as the nation’s police chief despite the completion of his tenure. This is the position of the Federal Government after President Muhammadu Buhari approved the extension of the tenure of the police boss by three months. Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of the Universities and Allied Institutions (NASU) have been directed to embark on a nationwide strike from Friday. The directive was issued in a statement signed by the leaders of both university staff associations on Thursday. Women in China’s system of detention camps for ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims in its western region of Xinjiang were subject to rape, sexual abuse and torture, according to a BBC report on Wednesday. A policeman attached to three Chinese expatriates has been killed by unidentified assailants on Monday. The gunmen kidnapped the 3 expatriates after killing the officer.
