The UK Supreme Court has ruled that oil-polluted Nigerian communities can sue Shell in English courts. The decision is a victory for the communities after a five-year battle, and overturns a Court of Appeal ruling. The Niger Delta communities of more than 40,000 people say decades of pollution have severely affected their lives, health and local environment. Nigerian comedian Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has been arrested by personnel of the Nigerian Police Force at the on-going #OccupyLekkitollgate protest in Lagos. Adebayo was seen detained in a Black Maria in a live video on his Instagram page. (A Black Maria is a police vehicle for transporting prisoners). Lulu the border collie was left $5 million (£3.6 million) after her owner died last year. Bill Dorris left the dog in the care of his friend, Martha Burton. The will states that Burton is to be reimbursed for Lulu’s reasonable monthly expenses. Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has said the Federal Government has reached an agreement with the leadership of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Institutions (NASU) to call of their strike. The United Nations International Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) on Thursday disclosed that 16 million doses of the COVAX vaccine for Covid-19 pandemic would arrive in Nigeria very soon. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) West Africa Pro-Cashew Project, to increase cashew productivity.
