Resident doctors gives FG four-week ultimatum to pay salaries, allowances

The Rivers State government has issued a note of warning to striking doctors in the state to resume work in the next 24 hours or risk being sacked. The striking doctors, who are members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), joined the ongoing national strike to protest unpaid allowances and benefits of its members. However, the government of Rivers state has said that it will not condone any strike action as the state government is not owing salaries. Emirates bans use of power banks onboard flights from October 1

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday relaxed travel restrictions for passengers from Nigeria. The Middle-Eastern country lifted the restriction for six countries, of which Nigeria was inclusive. The affected countries include; Nigeris, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Uganda. The recent directive which will be effective from August 5, 2021, was announced by the country’s National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) which had banned flights from Nigeria in January due to a rise in the country’s COVID-19 cases. At least six people have died following a coordinated attack by bandits in four communities in Kaduna state. The attack which was confirmed by security operatives in the state, was carried out by gunmen who raided four communities in Kauru local government area on Monday morning. The affected communities include; Kigom, Kikoba, Kishisho and Ungwa Magaji villages. The assailants also razed eight houses, farms and many other valuable properties. Three abducted students of the Bethel Baptist Secondary school in Kaduna State have been rescued. The students were found by security operatives in Kankumi forest in Chikun local government. According to reports by the locals, the students (all male) had escaped from their abductors. The Gombe Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Gombe Zonal Command has secured the conviction of the duo of Mohammed Abdullahi and Safiyanu Attah to six months and one year imprisonment respectively on separate charges of employment fraud. They were prosecuted before Justice S.Y. Abubakar of Gombe State High Court for employment fraud, contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 322 of the same Law.
