A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has fixed January 19, 2017 for continuation of trial of the contractors and engineers involved in the construction of a guest house belonging to Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) which collapsed on September 12, 2014 and killed 116 persons. The Lagos State Government is prosecuting the SCOAN Trustees, two engineers – Messrs Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun; and their companies – Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company and Jandy Trust Limited, before Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo on 111-count charge for their involvement in the collapsed building. The Pension Transition Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, has denied 9,000 pensioners in the northeast of Nigeria because they do not have their Bank Verification Numbers, BVN. The directorate said the 9,000 pensioners who did not have their BVN details were weeded out of the records of PTAD across board. The Directorate carried out the verification of 4,370 pensioners in four states of the troubled northeast zone. Falope Oluwole Israel, a 22year old suspect arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, has disclosed that he duped over 33 men while pretending to be a lady on Instagram. Zimbabwe’s ruling political party Zanu-PF has confirmed President Robert Mugabe as its candidate for the 2018 elections.
