Nigeria’s Super Falcons players have each received the naira equivalent of $100,000, while their coaches and officials each got $50,000, completing the cash portion of President Bola Tinubu’s reward package for winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
In a statement on Monday, the National Sports Commission announced the payment, stating that the Federal Government had fulfilled the President’s financial commitment to the team after their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Earlier, the players had received title documents for their three-bedroom apartments in Abuja as well as certificates of the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger.
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko thanked Tinubu for keeping his promise and for recognizing the team’s achievement.
“The Super Falcons made Nigeria proud, and Mr. President has honored his commitment to them in full. This means a great deal to the team and to Nigerian sports. We sincerely thank Mr. President for recognizing their achievement and directing that they received everything promised to them in record time,” Dikko said.
The commission stated that the payment came about through cooperation among the NSC, the Ministries of Finance, Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, and Housing and Urban Development.
Dikko added that delivering these rewards represented a break from past situations in which Nigerian athletes waited years to get the benefits they had been promised.
“Some of our sports heroes endured years of waiting for promises to be fulfilled. President Tinubu has shown that things can be done differently.

“Our athletes can take encouragement from this and prepare to represent Nigeria with confidence that their efforts are appreciated and commitments made to them will be honored,” he added.
The Super Falcons clinched their 10th continental crown in July 2025, rallying from a two-goal deficit to beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final in Rabat.
Tinubu made the announcement of these rewards at a presidential reception held for the team on July 28, 2025, pledging the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each player, while members of the technical crew were each to get $50,000.
He additionally granted them three-bedroom apartments and the OON national honor.
This most recent payment echoes a comparable case involving Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, whose players each received the naira equivalent of $100,000 in September 2026, while officials got $50,000 each, following their fifth straight Women’s AfroBasket title win in 2025.
Earlier, in February 2026, the team had also been given three-bedroom apartment documents and OON certificates.
Also, in December 2025, the Federal Government handed over housing title documents, confirmation of land allocations in Abuja, and national honors to members of the Super Eagles after they finished with the silver medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
