IGP Ibrahim Idris has rejected Senate's proposal to confirm police bosses in Nigeria

An FCT High Court sitting in Jabi on Thursday granted an interim order restraining the leadership of the senate from investigating the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris. Justice Abba-Bello Mohammed granted the application of an interim injunction pending the hearing of the substantive suit of breach of right to fair hearing by the senate leadership against the IG. The Judge also granted leave to the applicant’s counsel, Mr Alex Izinyon (SAN) to publish in two national dailies all papers concerning the originating summons, including hearing notice which would be serve on the senate. Nigeria, others on list of 'most pressing' shortage of health workers - WHO

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) is to partner major stakeholders in the health sector to improve primary health care system in the country. Asishana Okauru, the Director-General of NGF, unveiled the plan in Abuja at a workshop convened to bring all primary healthcare components in the country under one roof. The Russian-headquartered anti-virus company Kaspersky Lab has hit back at reports it deliberately extracted sensitive files from a US National Security Agency worker’s computer. The allegations stem from a Wall Street Journal report in early October. Russian hackers had used Kaspersky software to identify classified files on the NSA contractor’s home computer, which they then stole, it said. It later emerged Kaspersky had also copied files off the PC itself. But the company has now said this was not deliberate and any classified documents were destroyed. At least five persons have been confirmed dead on Thursday following a fatal accident by Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
