Thugs disrupted the primary elections organised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to decide its chairmanship candidate for Kanke, in the February 18 local government elections in Plateau. The Lagos State Police Command has stated that the 158 protesters and members of the Otodo-Gbame community who were arrested for breaching public peace during their procession has since 16 November, 2017, been released. Twenty six Nigerian girls who died in the Mediterranean while crossing into Italy from Libya, were given a mass funeral and burial. A Roman Catholic bishop and a Muslim imam both said prayers at the simple ceremony in the southern city of Salerno, with 26 wooden coffins laid out on a stone dais.
