The World Health Organisation (WHO), in collaboration with other donor agencies, on Monday, donated 853 motorcycles to the Federal Government to strengthen diseases surveillance across the country. Dr Wondi Alemu, WHO Country Representative in Nigeria, while presenting the motorcycles to the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, in Abuja, said that surveillance was critical to disease control, elimination and eradication. The repair of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, runway has been completed, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said in Lagos on Monday. Mrs Herrienta Yakubu, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the runway is now open for full operations following its completion. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Border Command, intercepted 2,200 jerry cans of smuggled of petrol with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) worth over N10 million between December 1, 2017 and date. The Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Aliyu, disclosed this on Monday through the command’s Chief Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Taupyen Selchang. The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, report on Monday revealed that Nigerian men worked full-time than women, while a higher percentage of female worked part-time between 20 to 39 hours and below 20 hours per week. It stated that the absolute number of male full-time workers (34.85 million) was more than twice the number of female full-time workers (16.21 million) in the third quarter of 2017.
