The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) generated a record N4 trillion in taxes last year. This was disclosed yesterday by the FIRS Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Fowler, during a visit of the members of the Senate and House of Representatives Finance Committees to the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has warned citizens against cattle rustling and attack on Fulani herdsmen in retaliation, noting that, they will face the law if they do. Ortom, who gave the warning at an emergency stakeholders meeting in Makurdi on Monday, urged the people to report any violation to appropriate authority for action. The governor said anybody that rustle cattle and kill Fulani herdsmen would not be spared by the law, stressing that the Anti-Open Grazing Law protected both herdsmen and farmers. Manchester United have topped the table of the world’s 20 richest football clubs for the second year in a row, and tenth time overall, says Deloitte. Its Football Money League, based on season 2016-17, also shows the combined revenues of the 20 clubs has risen 6% to €7.9bn (£6.97bn), a new record. A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos Nigeria has ordered MultiChoice Nigeria Limited to pay Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria Limited/GTE MCSN the sum of N6 billion damages, as a result of copyright infringement. The Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has said that the engineering profession has been infiltrated by quacks as “engineer” is ascribed to anyone wearing a helmet. Nigerian oil company Oando says it has resolved it differences with one of its key shareholder Dahiru Mangal and hopes to return to the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission following its suspension from the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The Ijaw Youth Council, Abuja Chapter (IJC) and allied youths group in the Niger Delta have appealed to the Federal Government to shelve its plans to wind down the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP). Mr Ebizimor Raphael, Chairman IJC, Abuja Chapter, who briefed newsmen on Monday in Abuja, said that PAP had yet to meet its mandate.
