The Ebonyi government says it will provide security to travellers using the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, following the closure of the Akanu Ibiam international airport, Enugu. Mr Obasi Abara, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, announced this in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen. He stated that the measure would last for two weeks. The police command in Abia on Wednesday arraigned former Lance Cpl in the Nigerian Army, Johnson Ajayi, at an Umuahia Chief Magistrate Court on a one count charge of unlawful killing. Ajayi, who was posted to Ohanze military checkpoint, allegedly shot and killed one Chimobi Nworgu, a commercial motorcyclist at his Umuokereke Ngwa Village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia on August 7. The Kaduna State Police Command says its operatives have rescued three Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) students abducted on Monday along Abuja-Kaduna highway. Brig.-Gen. Abdul Ibrahim, the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, says the Nigerian Army has initiated new operational measures to stifle Boko Haram insurgents’ economy. Ibrahim made the disclosure on Wednesday when he visited frontline troops at Moloi on Maiduguri-Damboa Road. He disclosed that the army had initiated new tactics to enhance patrols, denied remnants of the insurgents’ freedom of movement and destroyed their sources of money. The Bayelsa High Court on Wednesday granted an order restraining the National Executive Committee (NEC) of All Progressives Congress (APC) from adopting direct primary in selecting  the party’s flag-bearer for November 16 governorship elections in the state. The Osun government on Wednesday commenced the training of 100 vulnerable persons and people living with disabilities in the state. Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye, the Director of Special Needs, Ministry of Social Protection, Sports and Special Needs, who declared the training programme open in Ilobu, said the initiative was aimed at ensuring the inclusion of people with disabilities in all social and economic activities in the state. Oladunjoye said the programme would help to expose the trainees to marketable skills that could lift them from their present socio-economic status to desired positions in life. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission said its operatives freed 14 females locked in a room during a raid on a house belonging to the National Coordinator, Federal Civil Service Staff with Disabilities Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Iliasu Abdul-Rauf. In a statement signed by the spokesperson for the Commission, Rasheedat Okoduwa, ICPC said Abdul-Rauf’s house was raided as part of an investigation into his alleged involvement in N1.7bn fraud. The Federal Government, on Wednesday, accused Shiek Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, Leader, Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), of being sponsored by Iran to replicate the 1979 violent revolution that led to the forceful takeover of power in the country Nigeria.
