The African Development Bank (AfDB) says it has committed $2 billion to the education and training of six million science students in Africa from 2005 to date. A statement by the bank’s Communication and External Relations Department on Thursday in Abuja, said the AfDB’s president, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, disclosed this at the Tokyo International Conference of African Development  (TICAD) in Japan. The Police in Kebbi have arrested a lactating mother, Auta Dogo, for allegedly conspiring with two others to kill her husband, Abdullahi Shaho. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Garba Danjuma, made the disclosure at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday. The police commissioner said that the suspects allegedly conspired with her former in-laws to kill her husband. The Nigeria union has advised Nigerians living in South Africa to avoid Pretoria central business district (CBD) until the police authority certifies the area safe for foreign nationals. Adetola Olubajo, president of the Nigerian union in South Africa (NUSA), gave the advice in the wake of Xenophobic attacks on Wednesday morning in the country. Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau, has sacked Richard Tokma as the secretary to the government of the state (SSG). Tokma had been the acting SSG since September 2018. In a statement issued on Thursday, Makut Macham, director of press and public affairs, said Danladi Atu has been appointed as SSG by the governor to replace Tokma. Two top officials of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), the company which supervised execution of the $16 billion Obasanjo power projects, have been arrested by the EFCC. They were among the four persons detained by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday. The arrests signaled the beginning of the probe of the humongous expenditure during the Obasanjo presidency, with little results to show. The Consumer Protection Department of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revealed that Air Peace and Arik Air top the chart for airlines with most delayed and cancelled flights between January and June 2019. A document issued by the department on Thursday in Lagos, showed that 30,043 flights were operated by nine airlines during the period under review. According to the document, 241 flights were cancelled for various reasons by the airlines.  The U.S. Government may sever intelligence-sharing ties with countries that patronise “untrusted vendors” of the emerging 5G technologies. Mr Robert Strayer, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyber and International Communications and Information Policy in the Department of State, gave this indication at a news conference in New York.
