Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti on Monday said parents who keep their school-age children out of school run the risk of being prosecuted. Speaking in Eporo during an enrolment sensitisation campaign, Fayemi called on all parents and guardians to key into his administration’s free education programme. The Borno National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Abuja on Monday, dismissed a petition filed by Malam Kudla Satumari, challenging the election of Sen. Mohammed Ndume. Satumari and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on March 15, filed a petition with number EPT/BO/SEN/1/2019 before the tribunal. They are challenging the declaration of Ndume of All Progressive Congress (APC) as winner of the Borno South Senatorial District conducted on Feb. 23, 2019. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested no fewer than 280 suspects for various crimes in Kano State between January and August this year. The Zonal Head of the Commission in Kano, Mr Akaninyene Ezima, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Monday. Ezima said the suspects were apprehended for committing crimes bordering on cybercrimes, money laundering and other forms of crimes like ‘black money, wash-wash, foxy scheme and MMM’, among others. PayPal suspended an account used to raise funds by one of the US’s largest white supremacist groups six days after it was first flagged by an anti-bigotry campaigner. The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan had promoted the account via a donation page on its website. PayPal acted on Friday after others picked up on the issue and urged it to block the recipient. The US-based firm faces criticism for not resolving the issue more rapidly.
