The husband of former US vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, has filed for divorce, according to US media. Papers filed in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday identified the couple by initials – but birth and wedding dates match those of the Palins. The paperwork, reportedly filed by Todd Palin, cited an “incompatibility of temperament” as the reason for divorce. The Palins, both 55, married in 1988 and have five children together. The documents mention “an incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife”. The Federal High Court on Tuesday convicted two students for internet fraud in Abuja. The convicts are Adefemi Dare and Adeyemi Olugbenga, 400-level Mechanical Engineering and Political Science students respectively of Ekiti State University, Ekiti. The students were convicted after pleading guilty to the fraud. The EFCC alleged that Dare, sometime ago in Ekiti fraudulently impersonated Brian Watkins of the U.S. with intent to obtain property. The EFCC also alleged that Olugbenga fraudulently impersonated  an American known as Paul Edwin to extort the Sum of N500,000 from a victim who resides in the US. A Nigerian Shiite group banned by the government said police killed 12 of its members and injured more on Tuesday during marches in the north of country to mark a Muslim holiday. The government banned the group, called the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), in July after a series of deadly clashes with police. IMN said the police were responsible for the deaths of at least 20 people in July but the police gave no death toll. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday said that its collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has led to the arrest of 167 Nigerians for alleged computer related frauds. The Executive Chairman of the commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, stated this in Lagos through his representative, Mr Mohammed Abba, the commission’s Director of Operations. The Iraqi health ministry said on Tuesday that 31 people had  been killed and 100 others wounded in a stampede during Shiite Ashura celebrations in the city of Karbala. The ministry, said that 10 of the wounded were in serious condition. According to Iraq’s official news agency INA, medical and security sources said that the toll is likely to increase. The kidnapped lecturer of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa, Prof. Gideon Okedayo, has been found dead. Okedayo, of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and acting Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies in the university, was kidnapped on Sept. 5 on his way to his hometown in Igara, Edo State. Okedayo’s decomposing body was found on September 9 in the bush, where his abductors held him. Two suspects, including an army deserter, were on Tuesday arrested by the police in Adamawa for robbing a woman of her car at gunpoint. The Adamawa Police Command spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya, confirmed the development to newsmen in Yola.
