A US pastor known for his mental health advocacy has killed himself, church officials say. Jarrid Wilson, 30, worked at the 15,000 member Harvest Christian Fellowship Church for 18 months before his death. The US Supreme Court has given the go-ahead to Trump administration plans that severely limit the ability of migrants to claim asylum. Under the rule, people arriving via a third country must claim asylum there first before arriving at the US border. Legal challenges against it continue but the ruling means for now it can be enforced nationwide. The plan will affect tens of thousands of Central American migrants who travel north, often on foot, through Mexico. The Nigerian Army spokesman Colonel Sagir Musa has denied reports that nine soldiers were killed by Islamist sect Boko Haram on Tuesday. Reports had claimed that the said nine soldiers were killed in an attack on a military base in the northeast state of Borno where 27 went missing. “We repelled the attack,” Colonel Sagir Musa said. The National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state has upheld the election of Christopher Ekpenyong, striking out the petition by Sen. Godswill Akpabio. In a landmark judgment delivered on Wednesday, the Tribunal held that the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remained valid. Senator Akpabio, the 1st petitioner had challenged the elections on the ground that Sen. Senate President Ahmad Lawan has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the president’s resounding victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the presidential election petition tribunal. Wike’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by Simeon Nwakaudu, his media aide. The five-man panel led by Mohammed Garba in a unanimous decision dismissed the petition  of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate. The General Secretary, National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Chief Ayo Opadokun, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal on Wednesday as a victory for democracy. The number of Nigerians that made it back to Nigeria drastically reduced following moves by the South African government to frustrate the evacuation efforts. Only about 185 adults and two infants were successfully evacuated on Wednesday as against the 320 Nigerians expected back home.
