The former Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Ms Damilola Ogunbiyi, has assumed duty at her new job at the United Nations, UN. A UN spokesman, Mr Farhan Haq, made this known to NAN in New York on Tuesday. Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) ex-housemate Gedoni Ekpata has finally proposed marriage to Khafi Kareem, a UK Police officer who also participated in the reality show. Khafi eventually said “yes” to the marriage proposal. The video of the proposal which appeared on Khafi’s twitter handle “@khafikareem” showed the BBNaija ex-housemates kissing and holding hands to the admiration of friends. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) says Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is committed to the betterment of Nigeria from the grassroot. Nigeria’s leading transparency and accountability civic society, Tracka, has cautioned lawmakers in the National Assembly against labeling Constituency Projects as ‘donations’ to constituents. Calling on the leadership of the National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives), Tracka said the use of the word donation is a “malicious attempt at deliberately misinforming their constituents, for selfish political interests”. Federal officials say a Maryland man used fake passports to facilitate a money laundering conspiracy involving nearly $1 million. Arinze Michael Ozor, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges of forgery or false use of a passport, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland said in a release Monday. He’s a dual citizen of the US and Nigeria. Ozor used at least two passports to open eight so-called “drop accounts”, prosecutors said. The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) and the Nigerian Military are set to co-produce a feature film on the life of Lt. Col. Mohammed Abu Ali who died in the battle against Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeast. The Oyo State Government, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has selected 66 public primary schools to benefit from UBEC School-Based Management Committee-School Improvement Programme (SBMC-SIP). NAN reports that the 66 schools were selected from the three senatorial districts in the state. The number of people killed by a measles epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo has passed 6,000, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said. The WHO says the epidemic is the world’s largest and fastest moving. Around 310,000 suspected measles cases have been reported since the start of 2019, the WHO says. The Congolese government and the WHO launched an emergency vaccination programme last September. More than 18 million children under five were vaccinated across the country in 2019, the WHO says.
