The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 248 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday. The 248 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 4399. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 33 patients from isolation centers across the country with 15 additional deaths also reported. Senate President Ahmad Lawan has commended the Yobe State government for ordering an investigation into the mystery deaths recently reported in some parts of the state. Twelve health workers at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) have tested positive to coronavirus on Saturday. The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) said its AKTH branch confirmed the new cases of health workers infected by the virus. Chairman of the branch, Dr Murtala Isa Umar, in a statement listed the affected workers as five nurses, three technicians, one medical information officer, one billing officer and one attendant. A police inspector who was part of a security team enforcing the coronavirus curfew in Auchi, Edo State has been killed by a mob. A United Kingdom based Nigerian nurse, Onyenachi Obasi, has died after contracting coronavirus from one of her patients. Obasi, 51, of Barking and Dagenham succumbed to the disease on Wednesday, five weeks after being put on a ventilator at Queen’s Hospital in Romford, east London.
