Nigeria has joined more than 100 other countries to participate in the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s “solidarity trial treatment” for COVID-19. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 242 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country on Monday. The 242 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 4641. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 124 patients from isolation centers across the country and seven deaths were also reported. Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 88 new cases. The Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has donated all its 425 health facilities across the country as isolation centres as Nigeria combats COVID-19. Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), who disclosed this at the presidential task force briefing on Monday said state governments can now take advantage of the facilities. The Lagos State Government has discharged 33 patients that have twice tested negative for coronavirus on Monday, the state governor said. The 33 patients were discharged two isolation centres that led the fight against COVID-19 in the state. Debora Moreira, a Brazilian victim of internet fraud, has acknowledged the receipt of the sum of $4,040 which was recovered on her behalf by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. At least 175 suspects have been arrested by the police in Lagos for alleged violation of the social distancing and curfew directives of government, the command said on Monday.
