Anambra State Police Command said they have arrested two suspected armed robbers at Upper Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra State. The Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed confirmed this in a statement on Saturday, saying the suspects were arrested in a gun battle between them and Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in collaboration with local vigilante group. All 215 returnees from the United Kingdom have received clearance certificate from the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), at their Abuja Isolation Center on Saturday. All the returnees, according to the clearance certificate tested negative to the coronavirus. They were subsequently discharged all returnees and allowed to head to their various destination as Nigeria makes frantic efforts to contain spread of the virus. The drug US President Donald Trump said he was taking to ward off Covid-19 actually increases the risk of patients with the disease dying from it, a study in the Lancet has found. The study said there were no benefits to treating patients with the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine. Mr Trump said he was taking the drug despite public health officials warning that it could cause heart problems. The president has repeatedly promoted the drug, against medical advice. A 72-year-old man has been stabbed to death by his son in New York state during a Zoom video chat with 20 other participants, police say. Dwight Powers was attacked by his 32-year-old son, Thomas Scully-Powers, who then jumped out of a window and fled in Long Island’s Amityville village. He was held within an hour after chat guests had called the police.
