The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator Owan Enoh, has secured the sum of two hundred million Naira for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Enoh commended the Progressive Governors Forum, a platform for APC-elected governors under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma, for redeeming the sum of two hundred million Naira for the players.

Enoh, in a statement on Wednesday, said, “I want to thank the Progressive Governors’ Forum under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for galvanizing and redeeming the sum of two hundred million Naira only to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who are currently in Cote d’Ivoire for AFCON 2023.”

“The Super Eagles have shown immense commitment and tenacity through every match; this shows that they are on the path to conquer the continent again and bring home the coveted Cup of Nations.”

“Therefore, we must rally support for them because upon their shoulders lies the enormous responsibility to make Nigeria, our great nation, proud.

“Once again, I thank the Progressive Governors’ Forum for the motivation given to the players, he added.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-finals of AFCON at Stade Bouaké in Bouaké, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday.

Nigeria hope to scale through into the AFCON 2023 Finals in Ivory Coast with the availability of the African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, who was previously ruled out over abdominal discomfort.

South Africa are vying for their first Africa Cup of Nations title since 1996, but they face a tough challenge against Nigeria.
