Alan Fisher, an Irish chef and restaurant owner based in Japan, has broken two Guinness World Records related to cooking. He also broke the longest baking marathon record.

This was made known in a post shared by Guinness World Records on their social media account on Tuesday.

Sharing the news, GWR said,”Nigerian cooking queen Hilda Baci has been dethroned.

“Alan Fisher from Ireland cooked for an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan.”

Alan secured the title for the longest cooking marathon (individual), setting a new record with an astonishing time of 119 hours and 57 minutes.

Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, had previously held the record, but this achievement beat it by more than 24 hours.

In addition, Alan set a new record for the longest baking marathon (individual), clocking in at 47 hours and 21 minutes, breaking Wendy Sandner’s previous mark of 31 hours and 16 minutes from the USA.

Alan took on both challenges consecutively, spending over 160 hours in the kitchen with just a little over a day of rest in between the two record-breaking attempts.

Remarkably, Fisher undertook both record attempts back-to-back, spending over 160 hours straight in the kitchen.

The Tokyo resident achieved the feats at his restaurant, Kyojin Stewhouse, where he serves traditional Irish meals. Fisher took on the challenge of recovering from pandemic hardships that nearly shuttered his business.

To set the record, the chef prepared over 550 kg of food and 3,360 portions of 32 Irish recipes. Fisher said support from his local community kept him going through fatigue and hallucinations.

“I was representing myself, my family, and Irish food and sharing our story. I couldn’t give up. That was the only option,” he stated. Guinness praised Fisher’s “incredible feat of endurance.”
