Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reorganised Kano Pillars Football Club’s management board and named Ahmed Musa, a former Super Eagles captain, as the club’s new general manager.

The restructuring is part of a larger plan to reposition the legendary club for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

This was reported in a statement released Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who stated that the decision was made after thorough consultations with key stakeholders in the football community following the end of the outgoing board’s one-year term.

Under the previous board’s leadership, Kano Pillars finished tenth in the recently concluded NPFL season. In appreciation of that accomplishment, numerous board members have been reappointed, along with new recruits aimed at infusing new energy and improving the club’s competitive edge.

Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) serves as Chairman of the new 17-member board, which also includes Salisu Mohammed Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi (Andy Cole), Idris Malikawa Garu, Nasiru Bello, and Muhammad Ibrahim (Hassan West).

Additional members include Hamza Abdulkarim Audi Chara, Muhammad Danjuma Gwarzo, Mustapha Usman Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Gambo Salisu Shuaibu Kura, Rabiu Abdullahi, Aminu Ma’alesh, and Safiyanu Abdu.

Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash maintained their positions as Media Directors I and II, respectively.

Musa, who had a successful international career in major European leagues and served as captain of the Super Eagles, is anticipated to bring newfound vision, professionalism, and worldwide interest to the team.

Yusuf expressed confidence in the restructured leadership, stating that the new board is well-positioned to build on previous achievements and elevate the club in the coming season.

“The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects our desire to blend administrative competence with football experience. We believe his presence will inspire players, attract investment, and rekindle supporters’ enthusiasm,” the statement read.
