Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has melted hearts online after gifting ₦250,000 each to several graduates with first-class degrees, a gesture that has sparked praise and gratitude across social media.

The 38-year-old artist, known for his hit ‘Sade’, took to X with a simple request: “If you graduated with First Class, post your transcripts.”

What started as a casual post quickly went viral, garnering thousands of likes and retweets as users proudly shared their academic results.

Gold later announced that beneficiaries were randomly selected and asked them to check their inboxes for confirmation. Soon after, delighted recipients began posting proof of their ₦250,000 windfalls, some overwhelmed with emotion.

One user, @TheGigs∅x, wrote: “Feels like a dream. I had ₦0 in my account. Goddddd!!! ”

Another, Wunmi (@Abikelere), an HND distinction graduate, expressed appreciation while highlighting the ongoing discrimination faced by polytechnic graduates:

    • Adekunle Gold offers free healthcare to 1,000 sickle cell warriors

“Most times I regret attending a polytechnic… but remembering my parents’ sacrifice, I feel proud.”

She added: “Baba God has picked up my call ooo using you, sir… I got an amount tagged to my HND after 12 years. Thank you, @adekunleGOLD!”

The surprise giveaway is the latest in a string of generous initiatives by the singer, who has become increasingly committed to advocacy.

In July 2024, Adekunle Gold launched a free health insurance programme for 1,000 people living with sickle cell disease, a condition he has openly discussed, especially through his 2022 single ‘5 Star’.

Gold rose to fame in 2015 with ‘Sade’, a highlife remake of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’. He signed to YBNL Nation that year and released his debut album Gold. He has since dropped four more: About 30 (2018), Afropop (2020), Catch Me If You Can (2022), and Tequila Ever After (2023).

From chart-topping albums to impactful social gestures, Adekunle Gold continues to blend music, generosity, and purpose showing fans he’s more than just a star, he’s a force for good.
