Dino Melaye a senator and member of the 8th National Assembly, representing Kogi West Senatorial district has ignored calls to account for a solar powered borehole that cost taxpayers N19.7 million.

Transparency platform, Tracka, has repeatedly called on the senator to provide details on the status of the project.

The solar powered borehole was nominated in the 2017 budget by the Senator Melaye but nothing has been heard of it since then.

According to Tracka, the senator is yet to respond to its requests on the implementation status of the solar powered borehole, over a month after the first request was made.

Melaye who recently dumped the ruling APC for the main opposition party, PDP, has been active on social media but has failed to acknowledge the tweets of Tracka.

On Sunday, unrelenting Tracka tweeted again. ” Sen @dino_melaye, It’s over a month, you’re yet to respond to our tweet request on the N19.7m project for the construction 1 No Solar power borehole in Isanlu, Yagba East LGA, Kogi West Sen District, in 2017 budget. What is the implementation status of the projects?”

Responding to Tracka, Nigerians insinuated that Melaye will not heed the call of the transparency agency.

El Kuso Amor wrote, “He didn’t obey court summons you are expecting him to respond to this? The lawmaker that’s the chief lawbreaker,” he said referring to Senator Melaye’s lingering court case.

Arosa Adebayo reckoned that he was on a tree, following his claimed ordeal in the hands of kidnappers. “He will rather be climbing trees than to respond.”

Mabunmi O. O. tweeted, “Let me help you guys. The Senator you are trying to call for a response is not available at the moment (due to health issues); please try again after 2019 elections!

Dayo K reckons that the money has been used for other purposes. “The money was effectively used to buy petrol for his Ferrari” asking him why he used the money for petrol will make our democracy to be in danger.”
