Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for his love of dancing, pushing voters to take money from political opponents but vote for the All Progressives Congress in the August 15 governorship election.

Okpebholo spoke on Thursday during an APC campaign rally in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, aka “Ambo.” Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, also attended.

The Edo governor constantly mocked Adeleke’s dancing, alleging that it demonstrated bad leadership and distracted him from his duties.

“Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” Okpebholo told supporters.

Okpebholo also linked Adeleke to former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, saying both should be rejected by voters.

“That man is Obaseki’s friend. You know we kicked Obaseki out of Edo. So, we have to kick his friend out of this place too. “A lot of people ‘chopped’ Obaseki’s money, but they never voted for him,” he added.

Speaking on allegations that the Accord Party was distributing money to voters ahead of the election, Okpebholo advised supporters to collect the cash but vote for the APC candidate instead.

“If they bring money, take that money from them, but don’t vote for them.” They said they have money to spend; is that not so? Just collect the money and keep it in your pocket,” he said.

Campaigning for Oyebamiji, the governor characterized the APC candidate as the leader Osun needed, pledging improved infrastructure if elected.

He also criticized the state’s road conditions, stating, “The road I was passing, my tire was shaking. I said, is it the dancing road or the dancing governor’s road?”

He concluded by encouraging the crowd to vote for the APC.

“Osun, are we ready to make a change? Are we ready to say bye-bye to dancing?” he asked to cheers from supporters.
