TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has been arraigned before a magistrate’s court in Lagos on three counts of resisting police officers and breaching the public peace.

Peller, alongside Bello Oladipo, was arraigned before the court on Monday following an incident that occurred on July 2, 2026, along Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos.

The charges, as read in court, include conspiracy to commit a felony, obstruction of police officers in the discharge of their duties, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace.

The case stems from a viral video that surfaced last week showing Peller in an altercation with police officers.

In the clip, the social media influencer alleged that the officers harassed him, claiming he was cautioned for driving a vehicle without a number plate.

Peller insisted that he had just purchased the vehicle. However, the officers at the scene maintained that he should be taken into custody. The TikToker further alleged that one of the officers pulled his shirt and pointed a gun at his head.

According to the charge sheet, the defendants are accused of obstructing four police officers while they were carrying out their lawful duties. They are also accused of threatening and recording the officers while the officers performed their duties.

The court also charged the defendants with unlawfully conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the public peace.

“That you Bello Oladipo ‘m’ and Habeeb Hamzat ‘m’ of No. 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026 at about 2000hrs at Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, within the Magisterial District of this Honourable Court, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony, to wit: resisting public officers, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015,” the charge reads.

“That you Bello Oladipo ‘m’ and Habeeb Hamzat ‘m’ of No. 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026 at about 2000hrs at Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, within the Magisterial District of this Honourable Court, did obstruct ASP Agbede Victor and three other police officers while engaged in the discharge of their lawful duties and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 117(1) and (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

“That you Bello Oladipo ‘m’ and Habeeb Hamzat ‘m’ of No. 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2nd day of July 2026 at about 2000hrs at Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, within the Magisterial District of this Honourable Court, did unlawfully conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the public peace by threatening and videoing police officers while they were performing their lawful duties, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 168(a) and (d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

The magistrate granted them bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each, with two sureties apiece. One of the sureties, the court stipulated, must be a blood relative. The sureties are also required to present tax clearance certificates for the past two years.

A police source confirmed the arraignment on Tuesday but could not immediately confirm details of the bail conditions or the specific court where the matter is being heard, citing The Cable report.

“Yes. The information I can give you is that he was arraigned in court,” the source said.
