The Nigeria Police Force released the official portrait of Olatunji Disu, the acting inspector general of police, prior to his swearing-in on Wednesday.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, revealed the revelation on Tuesday in a post on X.

Disu was officially identified as the inspector-general of police in the force-released photograph.

After the Nigeria Police Council unanimously approved Disu’s appointment on Monday, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to swear him in as the substantive IGP on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council meeting.

“The swearing-in ceremony will take place during the Federal Executive Council meeting scheduled for the same day,” the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said in a statement.

Disu’s confirmation comes less than a week after Tinubu appointed him acting IGP following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun.

Egbetokun cited “family issues” in his resignation letter to Tinubu.

Born in Lagos State on April 13, 1966, Disu, 59, enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a cadet assistant superintendent of police.

Public administration, forensic investigation, criminology, security studies, legal psychology, and entrepreneurship are among his areas of expertise.

Prior to his appointment, he oversaw the Special Protection Unit and the Force CID Annex in Lagos as an assistant inspector-general of police.

Similar to his predecessor, Disu was Tinubu’s governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.

Disu was the aide-de-camp, while Egbetokun was the chief security officer.
