A Massachusetts-based food company, Kayem Foods Inc., is recalling approximately 1.58 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products over concerns that they may have been stored at unsafe temperatures.
The recall covers 1,584,361 pounds of products manufactured between March 31 and October 7, 2026, according to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The affected products were distributed to retail outlets and food service locations across the United States and Hong Kong.
The recalled items include bacon, meatballs, hot dogs, sausages, turkey breasts, hams and other ready-to-eat meat and poultry products.
According to the FSIS, the problem was discovered after a retail customer complained on October 1 that products arrived warm during delivery.
An investigation by the company found that various ready-to-eat products had been stored in a warehouse cooler that experienced temperature fluctuations, raising concerns about their safety.
The agency classified the recall as Class I, its highest risk category. The classification applies when there is a reasonable probability that consuming or being exposed to an affected product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
However, the FSIS said there had been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recalled products at the time of its announcement.
The agency warned that some of the affected items could still be in consumers’ refrigerators and urged anyone who had purchased them not to eat them.
Consumers are advised to discard the products or return them to the place of purchase.
The affected products can be identified by their labels and the establishment numbers printed within the United States Department of Agriculture inspection mark: EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A and EST. M 9520.
The FSIS has published a list of affected products and their corresponding identification details to help consumers determine whether items they purchased are included in the recall.
Consumers seeking further information can contact Kayem Foods on 800-426-6100 or email info@kayem.com during the company’s customer service hours.
The recall was announced as part of food safety measures aimed at preventing potentially unsafe products from reaching consumers.
