President Bola Tinubu on Sunday congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election, calling it “an affirmation of visionary leadership” and vowing closer federal-state engagement with Anambra.

The Independent National Electoral Commission proclaimed Soludo the winner of Saturday’s off-cycle election after he won all 21 local government areas.

In a statement signed and issued on Sunday, Tinubu commended voters, security forces, and INEC for a peaceful election and advised the governor to be “magnanimous in victory.”

He also praised the new INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, and urged the body to maintain improved standards in future elections.

With his huge victory in Saturday’s election, he became the third governor in state history to win a second term.

With his huge victory in Saturday’s election, he became the third governor in state history to win a second term.

“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that indeed knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency, and prudent management of people and resources.”

Tinubu recalled his visit to Anambra State in May, when he inaugurated certain initiatives carried out by the Soludo administration.

During the visit, he emphasized the good thought behind the governor’s outstanding achievements, referring to him as “Mr. Solution.”

“That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind,” he stated.

The president praised Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a new perspective to governance in Anambra, saying, “Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.”

Assuring Soludo of his support, the President asked the former Central Bank Chief to be magnanimous in triumph and seek collaboration from his opponents in the just-ended elections.

He stated, “I assure Governor Soludo of my unwavering support, and I look forward to continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government.

“The victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance in the election again demonstrates the vitality of our political system and the fact that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied.

Tinubu also commended the new INEC Chairman, Amupitan, and his team for conducting what observers described as a credible election, “based on the reports I have received thus far.”

“I charge the commission with maintaining the standards and further improving its performance so we can continue to strengthen and deepen our electoral system,” said Tinubu.

Soludo’s victory extends the APGA’s two-decade dominance in Anambra politics, making him the third governor in the state’s history to win a second term, following Peter Obi and Willie Obiano.

Chronicle NG reports that the governor won by a landslide, with some counts showing a margin of more than 420,000 votes over his nearest APC rival.

Analysts characterized the fight before the vote as a test of the APGA’s entrenched base as well as opposition strength in the Southeast.

With INEC’s declaration, APGA reinforced its grip, while Soludo’s mandate, which is set to end in March 2026, got new momentum.

Tinubu said he looks forward to “continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government,” and that Soludo has brought “discipline, grace, and a fresh perspective” to the state’s governance.
