    Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, has confirmed the arrest of an inspector accused of shooting and injuring a young man during a stop and search operation in the state.

    According to reports, an officer on the East-West Road in Ughelli, Delta State, shot at a young man, shooting his leg and abdomen.

    An X user, simply identified as Glofame, who shared the news, tweeted, “Operative of the Nigeria Police Force on stop-and-check along East-West Road Ughelli, has allegedly opened fire on a boy, with the bullet hitting his leg and abdomen.

    “@Brightgoldenboy, no, go see this one.

    “Una no go check the wolves, wey una give uniform and gun.”

    In response to the tweet, Edafe stated via his X handle that the incompetent officer had been arrested and detained.

    He wrote that the “Force does not and will never tolerate unprofessional conduct from any personnel.

    “On this premise, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass ordered the immediate detention of the erring police inspector.

    “The injured victim is being treated. Meanwhile, the CP urges members of the public to remain calm, as he guarantees justice.”
