Suspected cultists have reportedly killed a man simply identified as Tosin after robbing him in the Egbin area of Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident took place on Tuesday, September 15, after Tosin came from Ondo State to attend an event in the community.
A police source who spoke with our correspondent on Tuesday said Tosin had briefly stepped outside the venue while the event was still going on when some cultists allegedly confronted and attacked him.
The source stated that the attackers allegedly took his gold chains, mobile phones, and other personal belongings before killing him.
According to the source, the victim’s body was later dumped inside a river.
“His body was discovered in a river in Agura on Thursday. It was later deposited in the morgue,” the source disclosed.
A different police source stated that after the body was found, operatives carried out a raid in the area on Friday, which resulted in the arrest of several suspects.
“The arrested suspects were taken into custody for questioning. The police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tosin’s death and the identities of those behind the alleged killing,” the source said.
The source also stated that authorities were continuing their efforts to clarify the events leading up to the incident and to catch any other suspects who may have been involved.
Attempts to contact the state police public relations officer, Abimbola Adebisi, for a comment were unsuccessful, as calls to her phone lines went unanswered.
As of the time this report was filed, a text message sent to her had still not received a response.

She said, “The case at hand as of September 15, 2026, was that of a missing person, which was transferred to the SCID by September 18, 2026. A corpse that was identified to be his was found floating. The case has been investigated at the SCID.”
