No fewer than 53 suspected criminals, including kidnappers, armed robbers, illegal arms manufacturers, human traffickers, and thieves, have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of police, Ahmed T. Abdullahi, during his maiden press briefing held at the police headquarters in Dutse, the state capital, on Thursday.
According to the him, three of the suspects were linked to the kidnapping of a businessman in Kwaimawa village, Dutse Local Government Area.
He further disclosed that 10 of the suspects are armed robbers, 25 suspected thieves, three suspected motor vehicle robbers, and three suspected mobile phone thieves.
He also noted that the operatives arrested a suspected illegal arms manufacturer in the Dutse Kwari village of Ringim Local Government Area, two suspected human traffickers, and seven motorcycle thieves in Dutse, Maigatari, and Kazaure Local Governments.
“The police operations have led to the recovery of three locally fabricated firearms, four motor vehicles, N3.6m, nine Android handsets, vandalized armored cable wires, 32 cows, five sheep, and 261 wraps of dry leaves of Indian hemp, sesame, millet, and groundnut valued at N450,000, among other items.
He emphasized the significance of police and public collaboration in safeguarding the state’s peace and security.
“Through hard work, professionalism, and partnership, crime and criminality will be reduced to the barest minimum in the state,” Abdullahi said.
He urged Jigawa residents and others to help the police by submitting information and reporting any suspicious activities.
Abdullahi thanked the Jigawa State Government for its assistance and collaboration in the fight against crime. He also praised the Jigawa State Police Command officers and men for their dedication and hard work.
