Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, along with his wife and their baby daughter, has reportedly been released after being kidnapped by suspected bandits in Kaduna State.
Bakatsine, a local security reporter, shared the news in a post celebrating the family’s reported release, and other trusted outlets also confirmed the report.
“GOOD UPDATE: Alhamdulillah! Bakatsine wrote that Ahmed Zakka and his family have reportedly been freed from bandit captivity.
The reporter gave thanks for their reported freedom and prayed for their safety as they reunited with loved ones, while also urging the release of other Nigerians still held captive across the country.
This news follows days after Chronicle NG reported the abduction of Zakka, his wife, and their infant daughter from their home in Alrahus Estate, Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on October 6, 2026.
It was gathered that the kidnappers had demanded N300 million as ransom for the family’s release.
A video that circulated on social media while the family was in captivity showed Zakka holding his crying baby daughter as an armed man aimed a rifle at him. His wife sat beside him as the family pleaded for help.
Zakka’s right hand looked swollen in the footage. The report noted that he blamed the swelling on a tight rope used to tie his hands while he was held by the abductors.
The footage raised concern among Nigerians, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other public figures urging security agencies to secure the family’s release.
