The US Embassy in Jerusalem has issued a fresh security advisory urging American citizens in Israel to make their own security arrangements as tensions escalate following US-Israel attacks on Iran and Tehran’s retaliation across the Middle East.

In a recent statement, the embassy said it is currently unable to assist with departures from Israel and advised its staff and their families to remain close to shelters near their residences.

“The US Embassy is not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel,” the mission said.

The embassy warned that the security environment remains “volatile and unpredictable”, stressing that Americans who remain in Israel must maintain heightened vigilance and personal safety planning.

It urged citizens to familiarise themselves with the location of the nearest shelter in the event of a red alert, noting that mortar, rocket and missile fire, as well as unmanned aircraft system (UAS) intrusions, can occur without warning.

The embassy also signalled that further movement restrictions could be imposed on US government employees as tensions intensify.

“These restrictions might limit or prohibit travel to specific areas within Israel, including the Old City of Jerusalem, as well as to the West Bank,” the statement added.

The mission disclosed that Israel’s Ministry of Tourism has begun operating shuttle services to certain locations, including the Taba Border Crossing.

Passengers seeking to cross into Jordan can reportedly travel by shuttle to Eilat before continuing independently by taxi to the Yitzhak Rabin Border Crossing. Buses will operate from meeting points across the country, including Herzliya Train Station parking lot.

However, the embassy stressed that it cannot guarantee the safety of those using the service.

“The US government cannot guarantee your safety,” it warned, adding that it cannot recommend for or against the shuttle option.

Meanwhile, the US Department of State has urged Americans to immediately leave more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, citing serious safety risks linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Assistant Secretary Mora Namdar posted on X that Americans should “DEPART NOW” using available commercial transportation.

The advisory underscores growing fears that the conflict between Washington, Tel Aviv and Tehran could further destabilise the region, placing foreign nationals at increased risk.
