    UK has trained over 30,000 Nigerian troops – Hunt

    The British Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, says the United Kingdom has trained 30,000 Nigerian troops in recent years.

    Mr. Hunt who was on a two-day visit to Nigeria signed bilateral agreements between the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

    During his visit to the troops on Thursday, Mr. Hunt assured Nigeria of more support in combating terrorism, banditry and other crimes.

    “The UK has trained over 30,000 Nigerian troops in recent years by British Army soldiers working with the Nigerian Military to help combat terrorism of Boko Haram’.

    “If Nigeria is safer, so is the UK, and that is good for us all,” UKinNigeria tweeted.

    He added that, “The UK is providing a substantial and increasing package of security, humanitarian and development support.

    “This includes training and capacity building for Nigerian Armed Forces deployed to the North East,” Mr. Hunt said.
