Amarachi Ugochukwu, a female marketing staff member of a Globus bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, committed suicide.

The deceased, Ugochukwu, 32, was believed to have consumed an insecticide.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday at the bank’s premises.

Ugochukwu entered the restroom around 1 p.m. and swallowed the insecticide, unknown to her coworkers.

Other employees began looking for her when the phone she left on her table continued to ring and she was not present to answer it.

A police source confirmed to reporters that Ugochukwu was discovered dead inside the toilet, along with the bottle of insecticide and her suicide note.

In the suicide letter provided to the press, the lady blamed the economy for her choice to terminate her life, stating that nothing was going right for her.

“Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore,” she wrote in the suicide note.

Ugochukwu’s suicide message included an apology to her parents and other family members.

“I’m sorry, mom; I’m sorry, dad; I’m sorry, Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” she added.

She concluded by writing, “Dear Lord, have mercy on me!”

Chronicle NG learned that the bank’s manager had reported the incident to the police.

The bank manager reportedly told the authorities that Ugochukwu had locked herself in the toilet to attempt suicide, and she was discovered dead after the door was pushed open.

According to our source, a medical specialist checked on Ugochukwu and verified her death.

“The corpse was removed by the police and deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy. The police in Lagos are investigating the incident,” the source added.

When contacted, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, did not answer multiple phone calls or respond to a text message.
