United States President Donald Trump stated Tuesday that it was too late for talks with Iran even though Tehran wants them.

“Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and leadership are gone. They want to talk. I said, “Too Late!” Trump wrote in a statement on his Truth Social page, two days after saying he had agreed to talks amid the joint Israeli-US bombardment of Iran.

Chronicle NG reports that at least 53 people were killed after an Israeli airstrike hit an elementary girls’ school in Minab, Hormozgan province, southern Iran, on Saturday.

State media reports that rescue workers are still clearing debris, with 63 more injured in the devastating attack.

The strike is part of ongoing military operations by the US and Israel across Iran, which have sharply escalated regional tensions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared a photo of the destroyed school on X, expressing grief over the loss of “innocent children” and warning that “these crimes against the Iranian people will not go unanswered.”

Russia has strongly condemned the attacks, calling them “deliberate, premeditated, and unprovoked aggression” against a sovereign nation. Moscow criticized the timing of the strikes, which coincided with renewed diplomatic efforts around Iran, and accused Washington and Tel Aviv of endangering regional stability and the global nuclear non-proliferation regime.

“The international community, including the UN and IAEA, must urgently deliver an unbiased assessment of these irresponsible actions,” Russia said in a statement. The country warned that escalating tensions risk a “humanitarian, economic, and potentially radiological disaster.”

Russia urged an immediate return to diplomatic solutions, offering its assistance to advance peaceful resolutions grounded in international law and mutual respect.
