    Tinubu mourns 25 road crash victims in Niger

    A lorry crashed into the St. Matthias Catholic Church, Agulu, located along Agulu Lake-Golden Tulip Hotel Road in Anambra State's Anaocha Local Government Area, and immediately caught fire.

    President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the families of 25 people who died in a road crash at Takalafia, a village along the Yawuri Motorway, in the Magama Local Government Area of Niger.

    A DAF-articulated vehicle was speeding and lost control around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Public Education Officer, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the accident in a statement yesterday.

    The Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State governor, Bologi Ibrahim, said the governor was saddened by the magnitude of the crash and cautioned drivers to always obey traffic regulations.

    The trailer was said to have taken off from Sokoto State and was heading to Lagos with about 229 people, comprising men, women, and children on board.

    Findings revealed that 25 died on the spot, while those who sustained various degrees of injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Kantagora General Hospital.

    The hospital has deposited the remains of those who lost their lives at its mortuary.

    President Bola Tinubu condoled with the families of those who died in the accident and prayed for the repose of their souls.

    A statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said Tinubu described the incident as a harrowing tragedy and directed the agency responsible for emergency response to immediately intervene in alleviating the challenges of the victims.

    He directed the agency to move in and ensure that those injured in the tragic accident got the necessary treatment at the highest quality and with alacrity.

    Tinubu implored citizens to be vigilant and safety-conscious while travelling during this festive season and always.
