The Chief Executive Officer of Atalanta Football Club, Antonio Percassi, has disclosed that Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman is only allowed to leave the club this summer, but only to a super top club that is not in Italy.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s X post on Monday, Percassi stated, “The pact with Lookman was made one year ago when we rejected €20m from PSG.

“We told him: we’ll let you leave in 2025 for a super top club and not in Italy. Now, the situation [with Inter] is different… And as always, it’s us deciding,” Percassi said.

Chronicle NG reports that the forward had hit out at Atalanta, accusing the Serie A club of going back on promises made over his potential summer transfer.

On Sunday, the Nigerian international issued a strongly worded statement announcing that he had formally lodged a transfer request after “many months of broken promises” and horrible treatment.

Lookman, who played an important role in Atalanta’s historic UEFA Europa League victory in 2023/24, stated that he has always represented the club with dedication and loyalty, both on and off the pitch.

“I’ve given absolutely everything. Not just as a footballer, but as a person. I’ve always worn the shirt with pride and tried to represent this club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion, and dedication,” the 27-year-old said, reflecting on his three-year spell in Bergamo.
