Six people have reportedly died after drinking alcohol purportedly given by a friend in Ogbogbo, Ogun State’s Ijebu-North East region.

According to reports, the event occurred on Tuesday in a bar where the seven friends had met for some fun.

According to a source, all six people who drank the drink died, except for the seventh, who allegedly brought the drink from home. Before the incident, the dead and the suspect had a heated disagreement, which was later settled.

According to the source, the suspect then volunteered to contribute a bottle of alcohol as part of the reconciliation efforts. The suspect allegedly went home and brought the drink, which was consumed by all six of his friends except him.

It was gathered that a few hours after they departed for their various homes, news made the rounds that two of the friends had died and four others were hospitalized.

It was reported that the other four people died the next day, while the suspect fled the community.

“Six people have been announced dead as of the time of speaking to you. The whereabouts of the man who brought the alcohol is yet to be known,” he added.

Omolola Odutola, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. Odutola, on the other hand, remained tight-lipped about the number of people affected.

She said, “I just confirmed something like that occurred, but the families said they were not pressing charges and preferred to bury their dead.”
