Vice President Kashim Shettima has told survivors of the coordinated attacks in Bokkos, Plateau State, that the federal government will not ignore the attacks and will ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

DShettima addressed the survivors of the attacks at the Bokkos mini-stadium on Wednesday.

He stated, “President Tinubu is deeply shaken by these killings on the Plateau. The Plateau used to be a very calm and peaceful place. The inter-community violence will not be allowed to persist unless we set our watch.

”We are resolute in our commitment to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The government is here to deliver justice; resist the temptation to show hate towards others.”

Earlier, Caleb Mutfwang, the state governor, urged the people to remain calm and promised to collaborate with the federal government and security services to guarantee peace.

However, the Management Committee Chairman of Bokkos LGA, Monday Kassa, revealed that according to the reports available to the Council, 148 people have perished, 88 people are seeking treatment in various hospitals, 1,290 houses have been burned, and 25 villages have been attacked. While we are here, two communities are being attacked; one has been confirmed, and the second is still being investigated.

“These attacks are unprovoked, and they were well coordinated by our assailants because they took place in all 25 communities simultaneously.”

Meanwhile, at a town hall meeting held at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang, Barkin Ladi LGA, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Buba, traditional rulers, community members, religious leaders, and other citizens joined the call for peace.
