Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Ademola Lookman have reached a salary agreement, according to Sports Zone.

However, PSG is yet to be entirely convinced of completing a deal for the 26-year-old Atalanta attacker, as the French champions are anticipated to consider all options before committing to the Lookman’s transfer.

Lookman, on the other hand, is eager to join PSG and will try to sign there ahead of any concrete interest from Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ahli wants the Nigeria international to establish a new attacking trio alongside Riyad Mahrez and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta’s manager, is worried about Ademola Lookman’s future with the club after the midfielder reportedly asked to leave for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Nigeria international was left out of their team for the 2024/25 Serie A opener against Lecce on Monday due to a transfer.

Atalanta and their fans panicked after rumours circulated on Sunday that the French giants had contacted the Nigerian’s entourage and enquired about his availability, with Football Italia reporting that Lookman declined to be called up for the Lecce encounter.

According to many Italian outlets, the French giants are willing to treble the Nigerian’s existing wage, putting him among the continent’s highest earners.

PSG were obliged to enter the market when Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos sustained an injury against Le Havre on Friday, which might sideline him for three months.

While Atalanta is yet to issue an official statement regarding the potential departure of their top player, head coach Gasperini stated that he was unsure whether the Nigerian would remain with the club at the end of the transfer window.

Regarding the issue of Lookman and Teun Koopmeiners, who have both been associated with leaving the club, Gasperini was reported as stating by Tuttosport, “I have been given the proper guarantees.

“Nobody expected this situation, which is why I am currently sailing by sight. I don’t know what will happen, but my job is to assemble as much as possible together with the club.

“It is clear that we will actually have the definition of the squad on August 31.

“We have an undoubtedly solid team structure, from defence to midfield, with players who have been at Atalanta for years, guaranteeing a quality of play that is always competitive.”

Lookman has been consistently brilliant for Atalanta since joining the club for €9.35 million plus bonuses from RB Leipzig in 2022, scoring 32 goals and assisting 18 times in 79 competitive matches.

Lookman made history as the sixth player to score a hat-trick in a European final, a feat previously accomplished by Jupp Heynckes for Borussia Dortmund in the 1975 Uefa Cup.

Lookman scored all three goals in the Italians’ victory over Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin.
