Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command, in a joint operation with military personnel, have killed two armed robbers and apprehended two others during a robbery incident at Gashash Estate, Barnawa, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

According to the Command’s spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command received a distress call around 3:10 am from residents of the estate, prompting immediate action.

“The patrol teams, in conjunction with their counterparts from Kakuri and Sabon Tasha divisions, as well as soldiers from the 312 Artillery Regiment, Kalapanzi, swung into action and tracked the suspects to Makera Main Road in Kakuri,” Hassan stated.

The robbers, reportedly eight in number and armed with a locally made pistol and other weapons, had stormed the residential compound, stealing several items including mobile phones, laptops, wristwatches, gaming consoles, and assorted jewelry.

Hassan disclosed that upon arrival at the suspects’ hideout, the criminals engaged the security team in a fierce gun battle. “On sighting the security operatives, the robbers engaged them in a fierce gun dual, In the process two of the armed robbers were neutralised while two others were arrested,” he said.

One police officer sustained injuries during the confrontation and is currently receiving treatment at the police clinic.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the joint effort by security operatives. “The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammas commended the swift response and collaboration between the police and the military. The CP also applauded the support from DSS and other security agencies in crime prevention in the state,” Hassan noted.

Reiterating the Command’s commitment to public safety, Hassan urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating crime.
